Last weeks fire at Sports Authority on 24th street caused at least $500,000 in damages and the blame goes to a 15 year old teenage boy in Billings.Because the suspect is a minor, his name will not be mentioned in this post.

A 15 year old boy has admitted that he discarded fireworks in a planter filled with bushes near the entrance to Sports Authority on the night of June 30th which caused the blaze that had closed Sports Authority until July 4th.

As of now authorities have not released information of anybody else being arrested for the arson crime.

A couple of questions:

What punishment should be handed down to teach this juvenile a lesson?

Are the parents responsible for a portion of the over $500,000 dollars in damages, outside of any Sports Authority insurance?
