Though this was rumored last year, it looks like a sequel to 2012's '21 Jump Street' is moving forward. Sony has confirmed that they're going to make the film and that it will have a release sometime in 2014.

This comes from CinemaCon (we first heard word through Collider) which has already offered a wealth of sequel announcements. But of all these announced follow-ups, this is one of the most exciting. Word was that screenwriters Michael Bacall and Jonah Hill were working on the follow-up even before the first film was released, and with this announcement it looks likely that shooting will start later this year for a 2014 release.

It's is expected that Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will return to star, and that directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will also be returning, though the latter duo are currently working on the LEGO movie so perhaps they will schedule to do both or work on the project as executive producers as they did on 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.' As for the rest of the cast (including Ice Cube, Brie Larson and Dave Franco), we're sure that will be sorted out shortly. Likely the delay was to line up schedules accordingly.
