After spending some good quality time with my loved ones on Thanksgiving, I thought it would be nice to grab the boys, give mama a break and go around town checking out Christmas tree lots.

I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality of trees I found. From the West End to the Heights, there were awesome trees. For my family, the quality of the tree is a very important part of celebrating the season. Another part of it is to support good local businesses and, if possible, a good charity.

Here's what I found:

  • Knights of Columbus located at 717 18th St. West

These guys are doing some good work. Trees looked great and proceeds benefit local charities. Very nice people to talk to.

  • Unnamed Tree Lot in the 4 Seasons Shopping Center on Main Street in the Heights

When I stopped by, a gentleman came out and said he was helping there but didn't have much information. Trees were a little smaller but looked good from what I could see. Nice people.

  • Unnamed Tree Lot in Taco Treat and Walmart parking lot in Heights

This lot was closed when I came by but it looked like they had a good selection of trees to choose from.

  • Knights of Columbus at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Heights

Just like their counterparts at the location on Broadwater Avenue. Great selection, good people and supporting local charities. I love this.

  • Slyvan Nursery and Landscaping on the West End

I believe this is a small family-owned and operated business. They were very nice to me. One thing I found unique and loved about this place was they hang the trees from the ceiling of their greenhouse so it doesn't lose shape and freeze. Stellar!

Hats off to all five of the Christmas tree lots for doing their part in keeping the Christmas Spirit alive. Merry Christmas!
