It doesn’t get any more ultimate than the combined forces of rock juggernauts Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden, so when the two announced plans to tour North America together, it quickly became the most anticipated tour of the summer.

The tour rolled into the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Mass. on June 26. Although Alice Cooper took the stage while the sun was still setting, his show was chock full of the tricks and treats he’s made a staple out of for the past several decades from guillotines to live boa constrictors. He even appealed to the local sports enthusiasts filing into the venue by throwing on a New England Patriots jersey during his set, proving his keen sensibility to win over a crowd. His set was a one-after-the-other gory hit parade of all of Cooper’s greatest songs throughout his career kicking off with ‘The Black Widow’ and closing out the night with ‘School’s Out.’

Iron Maiden don’t really make a habit out of touring the States all that frequently so their North American Maiden England tour was a true call to arms for their loyal following. With a set list that paid great attention to the bands 1988 release ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son,’ the album dominated the set list with songs like ‘Can I Play With Madness’ and ‘Moonchild.’ Of course several classic Maiden tunes were represented as well from ‘Run to the Hills’ to ‘Aces High.’

Known for their beefed up stage production, each song had its own unique stage presence equipped with Bruce Dickinson costume changes, backdrops constantly changing, and enough pyro to make it feel like the fourth of July. Of course, their mascot Eddie was prevalent throughout the show and even with a few sound glitches throughout the night, fans went home with another one for the ages filed away in their Maiden memory bank.
