I was born in the southern U.S. and raised by a 21 year Marine Corps Vietnam Vet and his hard working, successful, Tennessee born bride. They set the bar pretty high for their three kids...so I decided to just walk under it and go into radio at age 16. After years of "town to town, up and down the dial", I made my way to Billings in 2005. That turned out to be the best decision I ever made. It lead to a great job, and the love of my life, my daughter, Eliana. I'm happy to be raising her in a place with a great mix of conservative family values and progressive ideas about inclusion and embracing the differences in people (provided they are not too liberal or from California).

The Beginner’s Guide To Bacon Fest: What Is It?
Bacon Fest 2015 is being held at The Rimrock Auto Arena, much larger than the previous year's venue. We will undoubtedly see many new faces this year as people experience Bacon Fest for the first time.
I have had some people ask what exactly they can expect from the event and I thought I'd offer a few highlights for those who are trying to decide if they want to come out and enjoy some food...

Big Brother Is Watching And Listening In Billings Elevators
I work downtown in the Crowne Plaza and, like most employees, I must park in the city parking garage on First Avenue. There have definitely been occasions (at least three) when I have encountered some weirdness in the garage's elevator.
I have seen a presumably homeless man sleeping, a young drunk hipster passed out and a couple engaged in romantic activity on the floor...
Who Do You Remember on Veterans Day?
As I scroll through Facebook on Veterans Day, I see many people who are changing their profile pictures to one from their uniformed days. I see many posting pictures of family members who served, and many "thank you" messages sent to those who are serving, or have served in the past...
Veteran’s Day Open House at Independence Hall
Many of us take the time to show respect to Veterans on Veteran's Day, but there are those who make it a year round habit. The Volunteers of America operates Independence Hall, located in the Billings Heights, which is a 20 bed, men's transitional living facility...
Who Does The Cooking in Your House?
Today is "National Men Make Dinner Day" which might have sounded funny a few decades ago, but now it just seems like "National No Big Deal I Do That All The Time Day"
I've only made the commitment to live with someone two times in my life and neither one of them were exactly Master Chefs, so I've done most of the cooking...
A School Favorite That Your Kids May Never Experience
Like many parents, I have my kid's school lunch menu posted on my fridge and take an occasional look at what she's having that day. Overall, her choices seem much healthier than mine were. For instance, the words "whole wheat" never appeared on any public school lunch menu that I ever attended...
The Thing I Dread Most About Winter Has Nothing to Do With Cold or Snow
What I am about to admit here may very well make me sound like a bit of a weenie.
When it comes to winter, the weather just is what it is. Frigid cold isn't my favorite thing, but it's an acceptable part of living in Montana for me. I might complain a little about the snow when it gets in my way, but I don't dread it...

Free Business Etiquette Dinner for MSUB Juniors and Seniors
Some people think that the concept of etiquette is outmoded and irrelevant in most situations. Even as old-fashioned as I am, I would agree that the days of no one eating until the head of the household takes the first bite are pretty much over -- at least in the home setting...
Will You Take the Polar Plunge For Special Olympics Montana?
Next month, on December 5th, many people will be taking the Polar Plunge into the icy cold waters of Lake Elmo. Participation takes a little bit of bravery, but last year more that $24,000 was raised for Special Olympics Montana, 60 percent of which stayed right here in Yellowstone County, the other 40 percent going to the state...
Daines Honors Passing of WWII Vet And Crow Tribe Member Charles DeCrane
Time has taken most of those who returned from WWII and earlier this week we lost another. Charles DeCrane, a proud member of the Crow Tribe and veteran of World War II, may have passed, but his family and friends will continue to honor his memory for years to come...
A Special Treat for Billings’ Best Halloween Houses
Billings has a lot of households who celebrate Halloween in a big way, but there is one neighborhood in particular that goes all out. If you know Billings, you know the area I'm talking about. I take my daughter trick-or-treating in that neighborhood every year and I am amazed at the amount of time, effort and money these people put into their elaborate decorations and candy for the kids...
