Over the past five years or so, the sport of Lacrosse has gained popularity with all ages.  Billings will be the host for the Sixth Annual Montana Lacrosse Association Youth State Tournament.

Amend Park off of South Billings Boulevard will for the first time in history host the Montana State Championship Lacrosse tournament May 29th, 30th and May 31st.  Games begin at 6 p.m. Friday and end on Sunday afternoon.

More than 1,000 athletes and guests will enjoy Billings' hospitality and the wide open spaces for their Lacrosse matches at Amend Park.  There will be teams from all over Montana here as well as a few teams from Wyoming.  The athletes include the Billings Scorpion girls and boys teams.

A few Lacrosse Facts:

  • Lacrosse is native to America.
  • Lacrosse was initially played by Native Americans.
  • Canadians started getting into Lacrosse in the mid to late 1900's.
  • Football legend, Jim Brown played Lacrosse before his football career.

"We encourage everyone to give Lacrosse a try," said Kevin Flynn, Montana Lacrosse Association president. "You won't be disappointed.

All of the games this weekend are free to watch as a spectator.
