Billings Non Discrimination Draft Has Been Read and Debated
The first draft of Billings Non Discrimination Ordinance was read paragraph by paragraph on Monday night, June 16th during the city council work session!Public comment began shortly after the reading of the first draft of the NDO at 7:30 p.m.
Four hours of public comment took place and ended at about 11:30 p.m. nothing like the 9 hour marathon of NDO speaking last week! This time the Non Discrimination Ordinance was the lone item on the city council agenda.
Different from last weeks public comments, each person last night had only 60 seconds to speak their mind on the NDO. It seemed as though the two main topics from the public about the NDO were lawsuits and religious freedoms.
The meeting came to a close and the city council is thinking about having Montana’s Attorney General, Tim Fox take a look at the NDO draft and get some feedback. The next Billings city council work session is scheduled for July 7th for more discussion on the NDO.
