The numbers are in, the sales have been tallied, and just as expected, Bon Jovi and David Bowie‘s new albums are sitting in the top two positions on the Billboard charts — and for all that talk about a tight race for the No. 1 spot, it really wasn’t even close.

According to the latest sales index posted by Hits Daily Double (via Vintage Vinyl News), Bon Jovi’s ‘What About Now’ racked up 100,415 in first-week sales, compared with 83,118 for Bowie’s ‘The Next Day.’ Neither total is anything to sneeze at, but ‘What About Now’ enjoyed an advantage of more than 15,000 units, making it three No. 1 albums in a row for Bon Jovi (the band’s current streak extends back to 2007’s ‘Lost Highway’).

As VVN notes, it’s a veteran-friendly week for Top 10 debuts, with Eric Clapton‘s new record ‘Old Sock‘ coming in at the No. 6 position and Dave Grohl‘s ‘Sound City: Real-to-Reel,’ the soundtrack to his ‘Sound City‘ documentary, close behind at Number Seven. Meanwhile, the latest posthumous Jimi Hendrix compilation, ‘People, Hell and Angels,’ is expected to drop out of the Top 10, falling from No. 2 to the eleventh spot on the chart.
