Happy National Dog Day.  Celebrated each year on August 26th, the annual holiday was created to help raise awareness and money for no kill animal shelters, humane societies and animal adoption agencies across the country.

Sadly, I can't have a dog at the moment.  However, I have been lucky enough to know some awesome dogs over the years, including my all time favorite dog, a chocolate labrador retriever named Crush.

Of course, dogs have also helped inspire some legendary classic rock anthems over the years, including Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog", which was named after the black lab who lived at the studios where Zeppelin IV was recorded.

Then there's Pink Floyd's "Dogs of War", Aerosmith's version of the Rufus Thomas classic "Walkin' the Dog" and who could forget Iggy Popp and the Stooges' "I Want to Be Your Dog".

The list of rockin' dog songs doesn't end there.  In fact, both Ted Nugent and AC/DC have different songs called "Dog Eat Dog".  The former coming from Uncle Ted's 1976 "Free For All" album.  The latter came out one year later on AC/DC's "Let There Be Rock" album.
