Dozens of skiers and snowboarders were stranded high above Red Lodge Mountain after a chairlift cable derailed on Saturday afternoon.

Q2 reports that Red Lodge Mountain Resort General Manager Jeff Schmidt said the issue occurred on the first terminal of the triple chairlift. The problem caused long lines of people waiting at the bottom. Schmidt said the problem lasted approximately an hour, stranding dozens in the air on the lift while repairs were affected.

Several people needed to be evacuated by rope, but no one was injured.
