Now that her publicity duties have slowed down for both ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ Oscar nominee Charlize Theron’s free to start prepping for George Miller’s anticipated ‘Mad Max’ sequel, ‘Fury Road.’ First step? Get rid of all that pesky hair on top of her head.

Theron was photographed in Los Angeles holding her adopted son, Jackson, yesterday (left) just a week after appearing at the MTV Movie Awards with a beautiful head of blonde hair (right). It appears, according to her spokesperson, that Miller asked Theron to shave her head for ‘Fury Road,’ and the actress was all too eager to accommodate.

“It’s been three years: It’s time to skin this cat already!” Charlize said according to The Belfast Telegraph. “I’m very excited about it.”

We don’t know ton about the upcoming ‘Mad Max.’ Theron confirmed that it’s neither a sequel nor a prequel … just an extension of the existing universe. Tom Hardy has replaced Mel Gibson as apocalyptic anti-hero Max Rockatansky. Theron’s playing an original character named Furiosa, though it’s unclear whether she’s good or evil. They’ll be joined by Nicholas Hoult and Zoe Kravitz in Miller’s film, which is expected to reach theaters in 2013.
