This month, Garth Brooks will play nine concerts during a week long run in Denver.  He is on pace to sell nearly 175,000 tickets in one market.  And he's setting similar records across the country.  Which, for rock fans, begs an interesting question.  Is there a rock band who could sell out nine shows in one week in one city?

The first band that comes to mind is Led Zeppelin.  Although it will likely never happen again, a full fledged Zeppelin reunion tour would be a hot ticket.  But I'm not even sure if the might Zep could sell out nine consecutive shows outside of New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago.

Another tour that could give Garth a run for his money would be Pink Floyd reunion with Roger Waters. Floyd last toured America over 20 years ago and they quickly sold out stadiums with capacities near 100,000.  That was without Waters.  Like Led Zeppelin, however, the chances of a potential Floyd reunion are remote.

Then there's the possibility of a Guns N Roses reunion.  Even if Axl and Slash could keep from killing each other, they wouldn't be sell as many tickets as Garth Brooks has. At the height of their popularity, their early 90's stadium tour with Metallica drew crowds between 40,000 and 50,000 across the country.

The good news for rock fans is that there's strength in numbers.  Even if rock's biggest names can't sell tickets like the country stars do these days, established festival concerts like Lollapalooza, Coachella and Bonaroo can still draw hundreds of thousands of fans during the course of a weekend.
