When you were growing up did you ever dream about being a policeman or a fireman?  Our Traffic Director Denise Tysver and her son's Cub Scout troop got to tour Fire Dept 1 on Tuesday night.

The troop and their families were very impressed by the firemen who took time with all of the kids, informing them and helping them understand the importance of being a fireman.

They spent time educating and teaching the group of 6- and 7-year-old boys to not be afraid of fire and what to do in case of an emergency.

The troop got a chance to see the brand new ladder truck that the city of Billings purchased.

The fire truck had been in town for less than 3 hours and was brought in from Wisconsin and is valued at $1.3 million.

The ladder truck reaches 100 feet and replaces the old ladder truck from 1991.

The new fire truck has a water cannon on the front of the ladder that can spray 2,000 gallons per minute.

If you ever have the chance to take your children or a group of children on a tour of one of the fire houses, I highly recommend that you do it.  I took my kids when they were little and I truly believe that it gave them a higher respect for what the firemen do.
