When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced that Pearl Jam were among the 2017 class of inductees, making it in during their first year of eligibility, rock fans appeared overjoyed. It was one of the band’s former rockers, however, who took aim at the Rock Hall for overlooking his contributions during a a crucial era of the band. Former drummer Dave Abbruzzese has been vocal about the snub and has now targeted his ex-bandmates with his latest words.

“Pearl Jam has always seemingly had a perceived level of integrity and has been known to stand their ground and fight the good fight, but it seems the allure of being given this trophy is just to important for them to take a stand,” Abbruzesse said in another one of his lengthy Facebook posts discussing the matter.

The skinsman reassured his fans it’s not all bad, adding, “I want to let you all know that ultimately, it’s gonna be okay. We still have the music and no amount of corporate conglomerate or ticky-tack bulls–t can keep us from enjoying the power of the music we love. The fact that we find ourselves fighting for the integrity of the validity of a segment of Pearl Jam history to be acknowledged is straight up beautiful. The reason we have to is what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is supposed to have been built to celebrate; the love of the music.”

Abbruzzese added that every person “that was ever a debt incurring, life sacrificing, blood spilling, member” of any band inducted into the Rock Hall should be included and to “leave it up to the group to show their true colors as they celebrate their own history in a manner of their choosing.”

Returning to the subject of the integrity of Pearl Jam, the drummer further expressed his disappointment, stating, “I am personally at a loss for words for how Stone [Gossard], Mike [McCready], Jeff [Ament], Matt [Cameron], Edward [Vedder] and Kelly Curtis [Pearl Jam’s manager] are accepting of such an injustice.”

Previously, Abbruzzese had called his exclusion an “absolute travesty,” citing that “the qualifications required for me to have been inducted with my former band mates certainly have been met.” The drummer performed over 275 shows with the group and played on the Vs. and Vitalogy albums, which have sold over 20 million copies combined.
