Dave Grohl, joined by Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins, performed a version of Queen and David Bowie‘s hit 1981 collaboration ‘Under Pressure’ with the cover band Chevy Metal.

Their performance was part of a celebration marking the California city of Costa Mesa’s 60th anniversary. According to the local paper Daily Pilot, Chevy Metal played covers of Van Halen’s ‘Panama,’ the Rolling Stones’ ‘Miss You,’ the Knack’s ‘My Sharona’ and the Vapors’ ‘Turning Japanese’ at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds during their set over the weekend. You can watch their inspired take on ‘Under Pressure’ above.

Onstage, Grohl called Chevy Metal — a cover group that includes Hawkins — his favorite band. As he noted, he doesn’t play with the group all that often, so the fans gathered for the show got a real surprise.

Recently, Nikki Sixx joined the band onstage for a performance in Malibu that included covers of the Motley Crue songs ‘Looks That Kill’ and ‘Live Wire.’ So you never know who might show up at Chevy Metal’s shows.
