Five Finger Death Punch Release Cover of The Animals’ ‘House of the Rising Sun’

Five Finger Death Punch has unveiled a “Mad Max”-style post-apocalyptic short film to go with their darkly mysterious take on ‘House of the Rising Sun,’ a song the Animals took to No. 1 back in 1964.

The band collaborated with Thought Pirates Films, with FFDP’s Zoltan Bathory co-directing with Brian Neal in the Nevada desert. The plot follows frontman Ivan Moody and his gang as they find themselves in a high-stakes card game – with a lot on the line.

Bathory outlined what else the band brought along: “two helicopters, two gyrocopters, twenty-something crazy cars, a big cast and an arsenal of cameras. We ended up with so much amazing material, the hardest task was to compress it down into a 3-minute video, so we made an extended version with a long intro and we are making an even longer directors cut as we speak.” The “crazy cars” were designed by Steve Darnell, of Welder Up Garage.

Finger Finger Death Punch released a trailer for the ‘Rising Sun’ short last week, calling it “an experiment” and their “initial steps toward something we always wanted to do … make a full-length movie.” Their version of the track closed out last year’s ‘The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2.’
