‘Glee’ Season 5 Re-Locating to New York Permanently?

Glee Season 5 Spoilers New York

Near of a year ago, reporters and ‘Glee‘ fans alike were shocked to learn that the Ryan Murphy musical drama would follow through on its promise of graduation, splitting the narrative between Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel’s New York adventures, and both new and returning players back in Lima, Ohio. Now, even as the experiment has proven largely successful, is ‘Glee’ plotting to abandon Lima and move to a single location once more? Get the scoop on ‘Glee’ season 5 from creator Ryan Murphy inside!

Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Horror Story‘ may have the luxury of changing its settings and characters from season to season, but ‘Glee’ has a just a tad more connective tissue between its years. And just as last year saw the show breaking its high school-based format to move between New York and Ohio, so too may season 5 see a shift in dynamic for the musical soap.

Series creator Ryan Murphy spoke to The Hollywood Reporter of his plans going forward in season 5, which FOX has yet to officially announce but talks have already begun. Murphy teased that graduations might not be the central focus of season 4’s end, but rather a new beginning that could take ‘Glee’ in decidedly different directions:

I think what we’re going to do, and I have to wait until that moment to announce but what we’re going to do with the show is very different. Not everybody will go to New York because I think that’s really unrealistic.

I really like this season and I liked going back and forth but I would really like at one point for a huge chunk of them to stay in one location, which we’ll probably do next year. We just started to talk about that.

I think we’ll always have one foot in both [locations], but I would like a big chunk to follow one particular story that we’re getting ready to launch at the end of this year. It’s going to be a big cliffhanger.

Well, what do you think? Should ‘Glee’ move to New York in its fifth year, or start an all-new premise? Would you miss McKinley High if the initial premise were abandoned altogether?
