Ever since it was announced that Benicio Del Toro would be joining the cast of Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movie, speculation has been running rampant about who he might be playing. But it looks like we finally have a answer!

While it was at first believed that Benicio Del Toro would be playing Thanos in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film, ComicBookMovie.com has debunked that rumor with information from a "reliable source," who confirms that the actor will instead be playing a character named Taneleer Tivan. So, sorry to everyone who was hoping for a Joss Whedon/James Gunn crossover, but do we really need two new Marvel films with Thanos? One should be sufficient.

A little background on Taneleer Tivan, for newbies: In the realm of Marvel, Tivan is often known as "The Collector" -- an old, sentient being, Tivan sets about collecting artifacts from various planets and galaxies to prepare for a foretold apocalypse of sorts. We already knew Tivan was going to be in the film, so this confirmation fits with previously released information, including news that Ophelia Lovibond will be playing an aide to The Collector.

Del Toro and Lovibond join the cast that already includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, David Bautista, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Karen Gillan, Lee Pace, and Glenn Close (now that's a line-up!). 'Guardians of the Galaxy' hits theaters on August 1, 2014.
