Jimmy Page is a rock god.  His work in the Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, The Firm, Coverdale/Page and Page/Plant places him on the short list of the greatest guitarists and songwriters in rock history.  However, his latest project has many rockers scratching their heads.

Over the weekend, Page released a mash up that remixes the classic Zeppelin song "Ramble On" with the late hip hop legend Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize".  I will readily admit that, even as a rocker, I dig old school rap.  And few did it better than Biggie.  But Jimmy's "Ramblize" remix is awful.  He's combined two great songs into one steaming pile of rubbish.

And Jimmy should know better.  His 1999 collaboration with Puff Daddy, which bastardized "Kashmir" with some of the wackest rhymes in hip hop history, was widely hailed as an epic fail by fans and critics alike.  Which leads me to believe that Jimmy just has way too much time on his hands.  Robert Plant's reluctance to join a Zeppelin reunion has left Page without a constructive outlet for his creativity.

If you're a glutton for punishment, you can check out Page's latest crime against rock and roll here.  Let's hope that Jimmy can find a hobby.  Maybe he can start a stamp collection. Anything to keep him from remixing rock and rap songs.  One more of this awful mashups and we're gonna need Plant and Jones to stage an intervention.
