In 1973, Hawkwind released what many consider to be one of the all-time greatest live albums, 'Space Ritual.' Recorded in late-1972 while on tour to promote their classic  'Doremi Fasol Latido' album, Hawkwind pulled out all the stops and turned a concert into an event.

Now, 40 years on, one of the band's founding members, Nik Turner, is planning to revisit the legendary era of the band. The event is being billed as 'An Evening Of Space Ritual: Nik Turner, White Manna and Other Special Psychedelic Guests,' and will take place on March 10, 2013 at the Echoplex in Los Angeles.

“I'm really excited to bring Space Ritual back to America after all these years and to bring the excitement, madness and four-dimensional experience to the fans," said Turner in a press release. "The show will create the astrological sounds, colors, experimentations, dimensions and innovations from the original Space Ritual days of the early-'70s for today's audiences.”

The concerts for the original Space Ritual were an assault on the senses featuring a barrage of sights and sounds including dancers, poetry recitations by singer/ideas man Robert Calvert and a wild light show by then-underground hero Liquid Len. Nik Turner (vocals, flute and sax) and his band will perform the 'Space Ritual' album in its entirety for this special show.

The band were at the top of their game during this time with a new bassist, Lemmy Kilmister, and a recent hit single ('Silver Machine'). The original LP was a hit of sorts, making the Top 10 in the U.K. and even grazing the lower regions of the U.S. charts (their only U.S. release to do so). Though Turner hasn't been part of the band for many years, he has always embraced his time with them. Guitarist Dave Brock remains the sole originally member in the current Hawkwind lineup.

In other Hawkwind news, a major piece of the band's catalog is finally being made available with the re-release of 'Warrior On The Edge Of Time' on the  Esoteric/Atomhenge label via Cherry Red Records. This 1975 album has never been given a proper reissue until now.The master tapes were thought to have been lost, but were apparently hidden away in the vaults of United Artists. The new release has been remastered from those original tapes and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree has also done a special 5.1 mix of it. It was during the sessions for this album that the band released the 'Kings Of Speed' single, it's flip side was the original version of 'Motorhead.'
