We've finally crossed the hump into 2014, wherein our beloved TV will return to us to sustain the long, dark and increasingly cold nights. And while 'Community' will lead the charge with tonight's premiere (watch it, ya turkeys!), HBO's 'True Detective' has us the most primed for its premiere with a series of recent trailers that cerebrally explore its leading men in Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.

The latest look at the Cary Fukunaga-directed series incorporates Michelle Monaghan's character into the mix a bit more, as she recalls the differences between her husband Martin Hart (Harrelson) and the more self-assured, but volatile Rustin Cohle (McConaughey). Elsewhere in the last few weeks, HBO has released a brickton of new trailers and promos for the moody new series premiering on Sunday, January 12.

For those unaware, HBO's ‘True Detective’ follows investigators Rustin Cohle and Martin Hart, whose lives intertwine during a 17-year hunt for a Louisiana serial killer. Their investigation of a gruesome 1995 murder cuts through testimony from the detectives in 2012, after the case re-opens. The eight-episode series also stars Shea Whigham (‘Boardwalk Empire‘), Kevin Dunn (‘Veep‘), Monaghan (‘Open‘), Alexandra Daddario (‘Percy Jackson‘) and Elizabeth Reaser (‘Twilight‘).

Like 'American Horror Story,' we'll only see McConaughey and Harrelson in these roles for the one season, so soak up all the blood in the latest 'True Detective' trailers above and below! Will you tune in to see if darkness becomes you?
