Snowboarder Sage Kotsenburg struck gold in the Winter Olympics earlier this week.  Now, he's crediting heavy metal for helping him bring home the gold medal.

In a recent interview with Today.com, Kotsenburg was asked how he prepared on the day of the event.  According the interview, he got pumped up with a heavy medley from Metallica, Slayer and Judas Priest.  After "bumping that stuff and getting into the right mindset for the day", he went out and won the first ever Olympic Snowboard Slopestyle competition.

Next time you see an America standing on the podium in Sochi, throw up your horns.  Metal might have helped them win a medal.
