Henry A. Jarvis: Hometown Hero

The following Hometown Hero was submitted by Bill Callahan

Henry A. Jarvis was my Grandfather on my mom’s side. In 1917, he enlisted in the Army upon America’s entry into World War I. He saw action in five different battles and was wounded twice. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

In the 1960′s I had a chance to talk with him about his war experience in detail. My mother said I was the only one he ever talked to about it. He was changed forever by this experience. He was a great man who was quietly proud of his service to his country. I am honored to be his grandson!
