Today, I found out that an old friend from high school was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  She has two young sons who are watching their mom fight for her life.  Sadly,  she is the third friend of mine to be diagnosed in the past three years.

I used to do a morning show in Bakersfield, California, and one of the gals I worked with was a rad chick named Nicki Reyes.  She found out she had breast cancer in 2012 (she wasn't even 30 years old).  After a double mastectomy and several rounds of chemo, she is officially cancer free.

Last year, another awesome lady I worked with in Fresno, California, named Jody Jo was diagnosed.  She too had a double mastectomy and kicked cancer's ass.  Both Jody and Nicki are not only survivors, they are now better people because of it.  Cancer didn't beat them, it only made them stronger.  And because they shared the struggle with their listeners every day on the radio, they were able to inspire thousands of woman (and men) who have been affected by this horrible disease. Here's an awesome video about Jody Jo's fight.
