James McAvoy Puts Us in a ‘Trance’ – The Daily Swoon
There is a lot of sexiness going on in ‘Trance,’ but nothing more sexy than lead actor McAvoy, who plays a man who steals a valuable piece of classic art and gets in over his head with some bad guys when he forgets where he hid it. And then he goes for hypnosis therapy to see if that will help him remember, and things start to get even crazier.
McAvoy is a fine Scottish actor whom you might recognize from ‘Atonement,’ ‘X-Men: First Class,’ or ‘Wanted.’ He’s sort of like a baby Ewan McGregor, and that theory is verified with ‘Trance,’ which is directed by Danny Boyle, who also directed Ewan McGregor in ‘Trainspotting’ — the movie that put McGregor on the map.
When he was little, McAvoy toyed with the idea of becoming a missionary or joining the Navy, and even attended a Catholic school where he began his path to priesthood, but then a visit to the school by an older actor inspired him to give acting a try. So glad he did.
