Jeff Beck Loses to Foo Fighters for Best Rock Album 2012 Grammy Award

Jeff Beck was the classic rocker up for perhaps the most prestigious award at the 2012 Grammy Awards, but modern rockers Foo Fighters took home the trophy. The Foo Fighters album ‘Wasting Light’ beat out Beck’s ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul’ to win the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

Other acts up for the prestigious honor included Kings Of Leon for ‘Come Around Sundown,’ Red Hot Chili Peppers with ‘I’m With You’ and  Wilco with ‘The Whole Love.’ The Foo win shouldn’t be too surprising, considering they are also up for the Album of the Year Grammy — one of the biggest awards of the night.

Regardless, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul,’ a live album recorded at the Iridium in New York in honor of late guitar legend Les Paul, is considered one Beck’s more notable albums in recent years. Les Paul performed at the Iridium almost every week in his final years before passing in 2009, and Beck paid tribute with his own set featured on the disc, which was recorded in 2010.

But Beck likely isn’t losing any sleep over his loss: he’s already won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance six times over his illustrious career and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance once. That’s not a bad track record at all!
