Kiss and Def Leppard Hire Two Veterans As Roadies

Kiss‘ ongoing commitment to those who have served in the military has long been one of their most laudable efforts. Once again, they, along with current touring partners Def Leppard, have hired a pair of veterans as part of their crew.

ABC News reports (video embedded above) that Bill Jones, a retired CH-47 Chinook pilot, and Kayla Kelly, a former Marine Corps Radio Operator, will work throughout their 42-city tour this summer. Jones, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, is an assistant to Def Leppard’s stage manager, while Kelly is responsible for setting up the VIP section.

“It is an honor to have anyone who served [in the military] with us,” Paul Stanley said. “These are the people who make it possible for you at home and for me to enjoy the freedom that we have and they are owed not only a hero’s welcome but whatever they need to work their way back into society.”

For Joe Elliott, the connection runs a bit deeper. “Having our own wounded warrior in Rick Allen, we’ve always had a close tie with the military. To carry on and further our contribution by giving a little back and, hopefully, helping fulfill a dream or two; we’re more than happy to show our support.”

Two dollars from every ticket sold will go to various military-related non-profits. Kiss previously hired a veteran on their 2012 tour with Motley Crue.
