Just when you thought Marvel would take a breath following news that its upcoming ‘Daredevil‘ Netflix series had hired Drew Goddard to write it, the scribe behind ‘Jessica Jones’ has been brought to light as well. ‘Dexter‘ and ‘Twilight‘ writer Melissa Rosenberg will pen the ‘Jessica Jones’ Netflix series, but don’t let those first two names scare you off just yet.

Deadline broke news that Rosenberg would both executive produce and pen the ‘Jessica Jones’ series, but Marvel has much better reasoning than the writer’s work on the first four seasons of ‘Dexter,’ typically considered the strongest of the series. Melissa Rosenberg had previously been attached to ‘Jessica Jones’ when ABC began development of a series for the Marvel heroine some years ago, but ultimately passed on the project.

That said, Deadline reports that Rosenberg’s ‘Jessica Jones’ will likely undergo a bit of redevelopment in its move from ABC to Netflix. For those unfamiliar with the character, Jessica Jones was created by noteworthy Marvel writers Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Gaydos, and depicted as a superhero suffering from PTSD, ultimately resigning her costumed identity and opening up shop as a private detective.

‘Daredevil’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ will mark the first two of Marvel’s Netflix series in 2015, at 13 episodes a piece, followed by series debuts of ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Luke Cage,’ all four eventually dovetailing in a ‘Defenders’ miniseries. At present, Marvel has yet to reveal its exact rollout plan for the four series, particularly if the dramas will follow Netflix’s usual model of releasing all episodes at once.

We’ll keep our ears to the ground for news of ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Luke Cage,’ but in the meantime, what say you? Will Melissa Rosenberg do ‘Jessica Jones’ justice when Netflix debuts its Marvel heroes lineup?
