Viral virtuoso Rob Scallon is back with the latest “May-tallica” installment. Last week he unveiled a banjo version of “Battery,” and now the YouTube star breaks out the upright bass for a cover of Metallica‘s “Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth).”

The instrumental track is from Metallica’s 1983 debut album Kill ‘Em All, and is a bass solo by Cliff Burton with some drum accompaniment. Check out Scallon’s version above and a live version of the original from Metallica below.

Metallica aren’t the only metal band Scallon has covered. In addition to upright bass, he has also played ukelele on a scorching version of Cannibal Corpse’s “Frantic Disembowelment.” Scallon is also a skilled cellist, as demonstrated on System of a Down‘s “Aerials.”

In addition to the “Battery” banjo version, Scallon has also covered Slayer’s “Angel of Death” on the banjo. There are still a couple of weeks to go in “May-tallica,” and we’ll let you know if and when Scallon unveils another creative cover of one of the band’s songs.
