I think it's time for Montana to step up and demand certain levels of proficiency upon graduation.

We are doing our students a disservice by pushing them through the system when they are not prepared for the next level. If they are not meeting the standards set but are meeting the credit requirements then they should get a completion certificate, not a diploma.

A diploma means they have all the skills needed to advance to the next level or preform the skills necessary to retain a job. Our future depends on a well-educated contributor to society.

Anything less and we will continue to see a decline in the quality of student, worker, and citizen of the future.
