A mom who was breastfeeding her four-month-old baby while waiting to see a doctor at Lubbock's University Medical Center (Texas) was escorted out by security for refusing to stop, leave or cover up.

The mother, Erin Varghese, was in the waiting room with her baby for a routine checkup. She was not covered up while feeding the infant, which reportedly made other patients feel "uncomfortable."

If you are a parent, you know that when a child is nursing his of her head obscures any sign of a nipple, so really all that is visible is the back of the baby's head and the equivalent of the small amount of breast shown in a swimsuit or low cut shirt.

Now, I don't know who the people are that complained about this woman feeding her baby, and I don't know what made them uncomfortable. Maybe the fact the baby was eating and they weren't? Or maybe they have something against breasts. Maybe they just need to get a life and mind their own business.

What I do know is this: 100 percent of people are born with nipples and 100 percent of people have to eat to stay alive. Research shows breastfeeding is the best form of nourishment for babies, and hospitals and pediatricians alike recommend breastfeeding over formula.

Could you imagine being offended from seeing a mom giving their child something to eat while waiting at a doctor's office?

The only way I could see an issue with a mom breastfeeding a baby in public and not being covered up is if the mom was completely topless with everything showing, except the one breast being used to nurse the baby. But that's clearly not the case here.

Here's a thought: rather than complain that a mom is trying to do what science has proven to be healthiest for her baby because you are uncomfortable, why not question why you have a problem with something natural. And if you are still uncomfortable, move or look at a magazine rather than complain.

In UMC Health Services' defense, they did issue a public apology via their Facebook page and stated that they do support breastfeeding.
