New MetraPark Dirt is Going To Cost $2.6 to $3 Million
MetraPark is looking at upgrading their dirt for MetraPark events! It is going to cost some money though.Yellowstone County Commissioners are looking into having a new dirt-floor arena built at MetraPark. The proposal is for it to be about 120 or 150 feet by 300 feet.
The new idea is to build an arena to hold livestock and equestrian events, like team roping, horse shows and some 4-H events. At first I was thinking that we have plenty of arenas now at MetraPark including the Pavilion, Expo Center and the outdoor Grandstand.
After looking into the idea it is not that far off considering the new arena will hold the dirt on a permanent basis. Right now, the big arena, Pavilion and the Expo Center gets dirt trucked in for “dirt events”. It takes time and money to haul the dirt out of the arenas after the event.
The project would cost about $2.6 to $3 million with, according to Commissioner John Ostlund,
with all the bells and whistles.
The cost could immediately be less if they add on the amenities over time. If the project is approved to move forward the building would likely be funded with the use of reserve money and a loan that would be repaid with rental and user fees.
