If you've been to a concert recently, I don't need to tell you how expensive ticket prices are these days. The convenience fees alone are enough to send the average person to the poor house. Now, just imagine shelling out over $100 to see your favorite band live, only to spend the entire concert looking at your cellphone.

According to a recent Harris Poll commissioned by the broker Ticketfly, nearly one out every three concertgoers between the ages of 18-34 will spend over half the show on their phones. The numbers are even higher for women, over 40% of whom admit to taking and posting pictures from concerts on social media sites.

In addition to differences by gender, the mobile habits of concert goes vary by region. For example, in the Northeast 5% of respondents admitted they will use their phones during the entire concert. Here in the west, however, those numbers are substantially lower. In fact, 86% of music fans in the West will spend less than half the concert using their cellular devices.

The survey also notes consumer preferences. 70% of concertgoers between 18-34 say they'd like to use their phone as a ticket to the event. Meanwhile, over 60% of smartphone owners expressed the desire to order concessions and merchandise at concerts. Click here for the full results of the study.
