Motley Crue Bassist Nikki Sixx Is Working on Two More Books

When Motley Crue came crawling out of L.A.’s underbelly 30 years ago, few fans could have expected that any of its hard-rocking (and harder-living) members would ever become a published author. But bassist Nikki Sixx has always had a thing for defying expectations, and now that he’s already got two bestsellers under his belt (‘The Heroin Diaries’ and ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’), he’s making plans for his next books.

In fact, Sixx is working on two new literary projects, with an eye toward releasing one next year and the other in 2013. He isn’t saying what they’ll be about yet, but he promises they won’t find him covering old ground.

“Neither book is like anything I have done before (I guess you can say the same thing about ‘The Heroin Diaries’ and ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’, too),” wrote Sixx on his Facebook wall. “I pride myself on not writing the same book over and over and also not using a ghost writer. Of course, it takes longer, but raw honesty through words is what I am driven to publish… After I get it all out on paper, I use a trusted editor to help me carve it into a palatable experience…”

Sixx’s announcement comes a mere seven months after ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’ graced the New York Times bestseller list, and at the end of a generally busy year for the Crue. The band celebrated its 30th anniversary by touring with Poison and New York Dolls over the summer, and they’re currently gearing up to head to the UK with Def Leppard and Steel Panther for a run of December dates. According to recent comments made by Crue frontman Vince Neil, the band’s current tour should extend through November 2012.
