Oreo Cookies Celebrate 100 Years!

The Oreo has reached a major milestone!  It was 100 years ago today that the first Oreo cookies were sold!

Over the years, Oreo has expanded on it’s original concept.  In 1974, “Double Stuf” cookies were added with double the cream filling.  Other flavors have also been added such as peanut butter, fudge, vanilla and mint.  Oreos are the top selling cooking in the United State and they are available in more than 100 countries world wide.

The appeal of the Oreo is in the way that you eat it.  There are so many options including dunking it in milk or twisting it to scrape off the filling.  According to Kraft Foods, 50% of Oreo eaters pull apart their cookies before eating, and women twist them open more often than men.
