Ozzy Osbourne and Zakk Wylde Reuniting for Tour
Right now, only four dates are scheduled for the tour, which kicks off on July 14 in Oshkosh, Wis., at the Rock USA Festival, and concludes with a show in Cartersville, Ill., at the Moonstock Festival on Aug. 21. More dates will follow later. You can see the announced concerts below.
Joining Osbourne and Wylde on the road are the singer’s longtime bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.
“I’m so happy to be getting back on the road with Zakk, Blasko, Tommy and Adam,” Osbourne says in a press release announcing the shows. “This is what I do. This is where I belong, on the road.”
Wylde first played with Osbourne on 1988’s No Rest for the Wicked LP, replacing guitarist Jake E. Lee. He also was on the 1991 follow-up album, No More Tears, 1995’s Ozzmosis, 2001’s Down to Earth and 2007’s Black Rain, as well as various live records from the period. They’ve performed together sporadically over the years, but the upcoming tour dates are their first run of shows since 2006.
Osbourne recently wrapped a farewell tour with Black Sabbath, and is now working on a new solo album, which is due next year. It will be his first record since 2010’s Scream. These will be Osbourne’s first solo sets in two years.
Wylde has kept busy on various recent projects, including a 2014 LP with Black Label Society and teaming up with guitarists Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen for the Generation Axe tour last year. “I’m really looking forward to the hardcore ‘powahlifting’ training sessions with Ozzy, as well as playing music in between sets of heavy squats, benching and deadlifts,” Wylde says.
