Paul McCartney Plays ‘New’ Songs at iHeartRadio Festival

Fans who checked out the iHeartRadio Music Festival over the weekend were treated to some ‘New’ music from Paul McCartney.

The former Beatle, on hand as part of a star-studded lineup that included fellow classic rockers Elton John and Queen in addition to younger pop stars such as Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake, has a new album (titled ‘New’) due in stores on Oct. 15, and a new single (also called ‘New’) out now. Unsurprisingly, he opted to forgo a hits-heavy set in favor of a few songs the audience doesn’t yet know by heart.

In fact, McCartney treated attendees to the live debuts of three songs from ‘New’: the title track (which you can watch above), ‘Everybody Out There’ and ‘Save Us’ (both of which you can watch below).

The songs were scattered among older numbers during a nine-song set that also included ‘Magical Mystery Tour,’ ‘Lady Madonna’ and ‘Live and Let Die,’ which closed things out with a concussive blast that found McCartney covering his ears and putting his hands over his chest. “Paul opened the show for obvious reasons,” one fan later told the Examiner. “Major pyro and lasers! More than I have ever seen indoors. It sucks for the other artists — I wouldn’t want to follow that set!”
