Paul McCartney has clearly been eager to make his return to the concert stage. On July 5, an audience in Albany, N.Y. got to reap the benefits of all that pent-up energy.

ABC News Radio reports that McCartney resumed his 'Out There' tour July 5 with a stop in Albany, treating concertgoers to "a marathon set that ran for about three hours." The show (the setlist can be found below) served as an emphatic stamp on the clean bill of health he recently received after a virus forced him to cancel a series of Japanese shows and sent him to the hospital in May. McCartney even took time out to facilitate one couple's engagement.

According to the previously linked posting, McCartney spotted a woman in the crowd holding a sign reading, 'He Won't Marry Me 'Til He Meets You'; next to her, "he" held his own sign, which read, 'I Have the Ring & I'm 64.' Intrigued, he invited the couple -- named Claudia and John -- up on stage, where he asked, "Are you going to do this, John?" Clearly unwilling to risk the wrath of his fiancee and a former Beatle, John nodded, "Oh yeah, I've come too far to back out now."

First, however, John joined the band for a verse of 'When I'm Sixty-Four' -- and then, having fulfilled a dream and pulled off one of the most memorable proposals anyone could ask for, got down on one knee to pop the question. You can watch the whole thing -- including McCartney topping off the whole surreal thing by joking "and they booked us for the wedding" -- in the video above.
