Queen’s ‘I Want To Break Free’ Without Music Is A Little Surreal

We are still trying to contain our laughter from watching David Bowie and Mick Jagger‘s ‘Musicless Musicvideo’ for ‘Dancing In The Street.’ It was such a big hit with our loyal readers yesterday that, naturally, we began a search for an equally amusing video done by the same team to share with you.

Although it may not be as funny as just plain surreal, the musicless video for Queen‘s ‘I Want To Break Free’ (seen above) should certainly elicit a chuckle or, at the very least, a raised eyebrow from you. Granted, only the first 74 seconds of the video are included but effectively seeing the legendary Freddie Mercury tend to his home while all dolled up is a little surreal.

As you can see from the original version of the video below, Freddie Mercury boasted a showmanship and flare for the dramatic that few other artists performing today can hold a candle to. But it doesn’t mean that he and his band mates in Queen didn’t also have a great sense of humour.

Having also done parodies of Nirvana‘s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit‘ and Michael Jackson‘s ‘The Way You Make Me Feel,’ we have to give props to ‘Musicless Musicvideo’ mastermind and creator Mario Wienerroither for helping give a new appreciation for the importance of music in a video. You can view his other creations here.

And on the off chance you haven’t yet had the chance to see the ‘Musicless Musicvideo’ for David Bowie and Mick Jagger’s ‘Dancing In The Streets,’ it just might be the best 57 seconds of your day:
