Robert Plant ‘Disappointed and Baffled’ by Jimmy Page’s Calls for a Led Zeppelin Reunion

Most Led Zeppelin fans seem to have gotten the hint that Robert Plant just isn’t interested in reuniting the surviving members of the band, whether it’s for new music or a tour. But that hasn’t stopped Plant’s erstwhile partner Jimmy Page from fueling speculation in the press — and Plant seems to be getting a little tired of it.

Plant, who earlier urged Page and ex-Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones to “move on” from thoughts of a reunion, insisted there was “zero chance” of one ever happening, and suggested that Page might benefit from a nice, solid nap, found himself dealing with the subject all over again during a recent chat with Uncut (via NME).

Confronted with Page’s most recent remarks, which have found him accusing Plant of playing reunion “games” and joking about heading out on tour as Zeppelin without Plant, he admitted, “I feel for the guy. He knows he’s got the headlines if he wants them. But I don’t know what he’s trying to do. So I feel slightly disappointed and baffled.”

According to Plant, he’s even taken a stab at collaborating with Page in the not-too-distant past. “A couple of years ago, I said, ‘If you’ve got anything acoustic, let me know. I’ll give it a whirl,” he recalled. “It was hands across the water. He just walked away. But we couldn’t do anything proper. The weight of expectation is too great.”

Plant’s most recent solo effort, titled ‘lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar,’ is due Sept. 9.
