Hot on the heels of 'Made in America,' his recently released documentary about Jay Z's 2012 Budweiser Made in America Festival, director Ron Howard is ready to train his lens on the Beatles.

Rolling Stone reports that the film will focus on the period between 1960-66, which encompasses the group's touring years as well as their rise to massive worldwide fame. It's the summation of a lifelong appreciation for Howard, how laughingly recalled pining for a Beatles wig for Christmas when he was nine years old: "The gift that I was begging for was a Beatle wig. And on March 1st, 1964, that's what I got: the Beatle wig of my dreams."

More than that, however, Howard stresses that opening a window into this stage of the band's career will also show viewers something about the many ways the world changed during that era. "What's so compelling to me is the perspective that we have now, the chance to really understand the impact that they had on the world," he explained. "That six-year period is such a dramatic transformation in terms of global culture and these remarkable four individuals, who were both geniuses and also entirely relatable. That duality is something that is going to be very interesting to explore."

Howard also promised his team would be bringing cutting-edge technology to bear on extant recordings of the Beatles' tours, recreating the experience as closely as possible. "We are going to be able to take the Super 8 footage that we found, that was all shot silent. We'll not only be able to digitally repair a lot of that, but we've also been finding the original recordings," he continued. "We can now sync it up and create a concert experience so immersive and so engaging, I believe you're going to actually feel like you're somewhere in the Sixties, seeing what it was like to be there, feeling it and hearing it. And as a film director, that's a fantastic challenge."

The film is currently tentatively scheduled for release in late 2015. To learn more about the project, visit its official site at TheBeatlesLiveProject.com.
