Sufferers of the neurological disorder known as multiple system atrophy, or MSA, will get a big boost from some well-known rockers later this month, when some of music’s biggest names come together for an all-star benefit concert.

The benefit, dubbed Kerry Simon Says Fight MSA, is being held on Feb. 27 at the Keep Memory Alive Center in Las Vegas, and the impressive list of performers includes Slash, Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, and Vince Neil, as well as former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum and System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan, among others. Bill Murray has agreed to serve as one of the night’s emcees, and the event will be hosted by Kerry Simon, a celebrity chef who was diagnosed with MSA last year.

A degenerative condition that affects nerve cells in specific areas of the brain, MSA manifests itself with Parkinson’s-like symptoms that include slow and/or stiff movement, difficulty with handwriting, problems with coordination and balance, and an impairment of automatic body functions. In spite of its Parkinson’s similarities, MSA patients tend to show little if any improvement when placed on the dopamine medications used to combat that disease.

Tickets for the event cost $500, and can be purchased through the Keep Memory Alive Center’s website. For more information about the Center and its mission, click here.
