Starz and ‘Chronicle’ Producer Eying Future Detective Drama ‘Human Error’

Starz Human Error Chronicle
Starz / 20th Century Fox

Late last week we talked about Starz looking to shore itself up on the drama side, what with the cancellation of ‘Boss,’ and the imminent end of one of the network’s star attractions in ‘Spartacus: War of the Damned.’ ‘Magic City‘ will soon resume, along with premieres of ‘Da Vinci’s Demons,’ ‘The White Queen’ and one day ‘Black Sails,’ but what new venture with ‘Chronicle‘ producer Adam Schroeder could literally take Starz into the future? Will it be another case of ‘Human Error?’

Starz has taken yet another step toward expanding its broadcast horizons into science fiction, as today The Hollywood Reporter has announced the network’s development of futuristic police thriller ‘Human Error.’ Written by British screenwriter/playwright Philip Gawthorne and produced by Adam Schroeder (‘Chronicle,’ ‘Zoolander’) and ‘Ray Donovan‘s Bryan Zuriff, ‘Human Error’ takes place in a near future where artificial humans, or “synthetics” are slowly being phased into civilian life.

The story itself follows a veteran human detective who finds himself paired with one of the synthetics, and is tasked with a seemingly ordinary case that wouldn’t you know it, leads to a much larger conspiracy. On the scale of sci-fi, Starz has also been developing another project with ‘Spartacus’ creator Stephen S. DeKnight’ called ‘Incursion,’ which follows a group of soldiers engaged in a war against a hostile alien race.

What say you?  Does ‘Human Error’ sound like it would compute? Tell us if you’d watch in the comments!
