Sam’s Who Were They Before?

The band was called Elf and their lead singer was Ronnie James Dio.  These guys were a blues based boogie band and it was one of the bands Dio was in before he sang in Rainbow.  As a matter of fact when Blackmore left Deep Purple and formed Rainbow all he did was fire the guitar player and keep the rest of the band and that was the first rendition of Richie Blackmores Rainbow
