Black Star Riders, Comprised of Thin Lizzy Members, To Release Debut Album

We are just a little over a month away from the debut release from the Black Star Riders. If the name doesn't immediately ring some bells, the group has some real weight in its ranks. The band is comprised of Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson and Marco Mendoza, all of whom are also members of Thin Lizzy. The band is rounded out by Jimmy DeGrasso on drums.

As reported by Ultimate Classic Rock this past December, Thin Lizzy member Scott Gorham announced the formation of a new group, Black Star Riders. Now, the group has confirmed details of their debut full-length effort, scheduled to be released in late May. 'All Hell Breaks Loose' is slated for release in the United States on May 28 via Nuclear Blast.

After a layoff of nearly 30 years, Thin Lizzy are currently working on a new studio album. Despite maintaining a steady touring schedule since reforming shortly after the 1986 death of original frontman and primary songwriter Phil Lynott, the Irish rockers have not released any new material since their initial breakup following 1983′s ‘Thunder and Lightning.’ They have, however, released several live albums.

Def Leppard's Joe Elliott Plans New Down 'N' Outz Album

With Def Leppard prepping a new live album and a tour, it’s somewhat remarkable how much outside work the Leps are taking these days. Vivian Campbell is touring with Thin Lizzy. Phil Collen is working with Sex Pistol Paul Cook and former Girl bandmate Simon Laffy in Man Raze. And Joe Elliott continues to crank out new music with his own side project, Down ‘N’ Outz.

The group, which features Elliott and members of The Quireboys, released a debut album last year, titled My ReGeneration. The album was a collection of covers of songs by Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter and British Lions. Now, the band are eyeing further releases.
