UPDATED: Story Is a Hoax – Ted Nugent and Kid Rock Have Not Teamed Up to Record ‘Kiss My Rebel Ass’

UPDATE: A report stating that Ted Nugent and Kid Rock had teamed up to record a song in support of the Confederate flag is, in fact, a hoax. We would like to apologize to both artists and their fans for furthering this false information.

The story, which originally appeared in the National Report, declared that a song titled “Kiss My Rebel Ass,” was written and recorded in the space of a day. According to the fake story, this happened after Nugent saw that Kid Rock had invited anyone protesting his use of the flag at his concerts to “kiss my ass,” and reached out to express his support via text message. (Kid Rock really did make that statement, the rest is from the fake report.)

The only problem is, as pointed out on the site’s disclaimer page, “National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news.” We missed that part, obviously.

What is true is that Nugent, who’s been typically outspoken in his disappointment with the recent removal of the flag from the statehouse grounds in South Carolina, weighed in on the subject during a recent appearance on the World Positive Thinkers podcast.

“I believe that we always have to look at substance over symbolism, and I think we have to be honest,” he argued. “If we burned every Confederate flag today, would they stop shooting each other in Chicago? If we burned every Confederate flag today, would we stop sanctuary cities from accommodating murderers and rapists and savage people?”
