Today, I overheard a couple of co-workers (not Hawk DJ's) complaining about the recent
Beatles Tribute and all of the hoopla surrounding the 50th anniversary of the British Invasion.  When one of them said "The Beatles are overrated", I almost punched him in the face.

Luckily, I resisted the urge to pummel them.  Instead, I calmly explained that The Beatles changed the world forever. You don't need to be a fan to get the magnitude of their impact. There was the world before the Beatles. And there is now. They are the measuring stick.

Here's what I didn't tell them.  If you work in radio, regardless of the format of your station, and have no understanding of The Beatles' impact on the world, you are not qualified to do your job.  It's as simple as that.
