Billings Morning News Speaks with Residents of Centennial, Colorado About Today’s School Shooting [AUDIO]
Early this afternoon a gunman, later to be confirmed as a student at Arapahoe High School carried a shot gun into the high school in Centennial, Colorado, a suburb of Denver and was on the hunt for a particular teacher.
The Colorado shooting this afternoon has a Billings tie. NewsTalk 95.5 talked with Sue Vasquez who lives in Centennial, CO. Vasquez’s daughter was on lock down at a neighboring high school. Her niece in Billings arranged for an interview with her. Vasquez’s daughter called her shortly after the commotion began,

According to reports, the armed student opened fire after entering the school, all the while on the search for a certain teacher. The shooter asked students,
the whereabouts of the faculty member.
A janitor in the school called 911 and escorted the targeted teacher out of the building and out of harms way. The gunman’s body was found dead a short time later in a classroom with what is said to have been a self inflicted gunshot wound. There was only one gunman in the incident. Three students have been injured and are at Denver area hospitals.
Arapahoe High School is in the same district as Columbine High School. That shooting happened in April of 1999. The Arapahoe shooting is a day away from the one year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, CT.(December 14, 2012)
