All eyes will be on 'The Newsroom' season 2 when new episodes premiere July 14, given the divided critical reception of the HBO drama's first controversial season. In advance of the next cycle, HBO has issued a new behind-the-scenes look into the season hosted by acclaimed writer Aaron Sorkin himself, which reveals that 'The Newsroom' season 2 will use a unique storytelling structure that sees the character preparing for a deposition in a wrongful termination suit.

The second season of HBO’s ‘The Newsroom’ features appearances by ‘Justified‘ star Patton Oswalt as the fictional networks new vice president of human resources, Marcia Gay Harden as litigator Rebecca Halliday, and Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer as a reporter embedded within the Mitt Romney campaign, to which Jim has since re-located. We know that much of season 2 will focus on the 2012 elections, but Sorkin added to the list of news stories events such as Trayvon Martin, the Affordable Care Act, drones, Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Muammar Gaddafi.

We're keeping a weather eye on 'The Newsroom' season 2 for its July 14 premiere, but what say you? Will the Aaron Sorkin drama court less controversy this time around? Preview the new season with the latest video below!
