Today is National Metal Day

Today, the Hawk salutes the heroes who have fought for our freedom in the Armed Forces.  Not only is it Veteran's Day, it's also National Metal Day.

This celebration was established several years ago as a tribute to the classic film "Spinal Tap".   In the movie, fictional guitar god Nigel Tufnel points out that his amplifier is louder because the knob "goes to 11".  "It's one louder".  Why not just make 10 louder?  "Because these go to 11", that's why.

If you're a headbanger, Happy National Metal Day.  Throw up your horns and crank it up to 11.
